eBiz Knowledge Like Swiss Cheese?

Business Knowledge Holes

As a late boomer I will share with you that I actually typed my first term paper while earning my Master’s degree. My professor expressed amazement to the class on two points - one, someone in the program had typed a term paper, and two, it was the only paper turned in without spelling errors. He then lectured for some time on the value of spell check for anyone hoping for a passing grade in his class. That was the first of many term papers, and I used WordPerfect and then MSWord for the duration. I had done a lengthy stint in the hospitality industry, missed the computer revolution, and went back for my advanced degree in 1995, at the dawn of the Internet era. I had to catch up fast, so am mostly self-taught in anything software and hardware related, and anything Internet related - do I have to say I developed a support group? Well of course I did, and we all have complementary knowledge. I am happy to be a guest blogger on ebiztutors.com and will share everything I know and everything I find of interest. I compare my business and Internet knowledge to Swiss Cheese. Broad and vast, but with random holes! Who out there can relate? I have to say filling in the holes is fun, and one of my goals as we advance…

I have been involved in publishing webmaster how-to for the last few years and have covered some quite involved subjects which we will refer to in future blogs and the dynamic eCommerce education courses available on this site. Some of my fun as a Swiss Cheeser is in finding the simplest things most of you probably take for granted…so my blogs will cover a broad continuum going forward - analysis of business acumen interspersed with basic simple tips that I find interesting.

I found two tips this week - for those of you who do not know them already, how do you find your IP address when someone asks you? Simple, just go to: What is my IP

And for those of you wondering what is going on with your DSL lately, I discovered a site where you can check your connection speed, measuring both upload and download speeds. Find this one at: Speakeasy Speedtest

For all of you Swiss Cheesers out there, take heart! This is a site where you can plug all those holes, and contribute all you know to others like us. If it has to do with eCommerce or motivation and determination to succeed online, start using the Suggest a Blog feature above and join in the fun.
