Dogs Seek Enlightenment Through Yoga

Further to our report on pampered ageing housepets, it appears the situation is even worse than we thought! The accompanying photo shows Mayako Koyama practising yoga with her dog Rishell, a two-year-old Miniature Dachshund, during a recent “Dog Yoga” lesson organised by the Japan Dog Yoga Association at Nippon Ayurveda School in Tokyo.
According to Associated Press, “The boom in pet ownership in Japan has led to a new phenomenon: legions of elderly animals that doting masters pamper with fortified food and vitamins, aromatherapy and even acupuncture.” Longevity for cats in Japan almost doubled between 1991 and 2003, from 5.1 years to 9.9 years while dog longevity surged from 8.6 years to 11.9 years.
No wonder the dog daycare and pet-related business generally is booming worldwide! It’s also an ideally low-cost startup business that we have reported on in detail lately.

But this is just a natural development considering services such as BowWow.jp, electronic gadgets for pets, and (of course) dog yoga. [Source: EBT] Share This […]
